¡Bienvenidos!

Welcome to my travel blog!
I am excited to be writing about my first real experience abroad! This documentation will go through the stages of my trip....
-The Preparation
-The Departure
-My life as an Argentinean
-The returning to America
-The Re-entry adjustments

Crazy how time flies. Last year this was all a dream. A few months ago, this was all a distant reality. Now... there is no going back. I have officially purchased my plane ticket (my wallet took a beating) and turned in the last items of my programs to-do list. Now the countdown begins. 54 days until departure. I will be giving 5 months of life to Spanish culture, language and company. It also took that long for my parents to finally come to terms with my adventurous soul. I would love to say that they are thrilled with my decision... but that is only half true... *Note to self: My mom is not allowed to watch Taken (starring the charming Liam Neeson respectively) before I head off to Argentina... good movie, not good for worried mothers.

As soon as I set foot on Argentinean soil, I will be writing to you half in English and half in Spanish. If you are yearning to learn Spanish, then try to decifer my Spanish rants... if you are perfectly content with English... then disregard my Spanish but secretly I will want you to read or pretend you are reading it in Spanish.

My first step in preparation is slowly acclamating myself to everything Spanish. I have been speaking/taking Spanish classes for 8 years but now it is time to step up my game! I am beginning with watching The Motorcyle Diaries, a movie of two men traveling from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Colombia on a motorcyle bike. A wonderfully daring movie all in Spanish. I am trying to pick up on familiar phrases and the dialect, this will be a process. Unfortunately the most Spanish my parents speak is the basic of the basic... which still confuses them from time to time. So the plan of speaking Spanish to the people around has flopped. That means *coming up to random spanish speaking strangers and hoping they don't runaway when I ramble off something that I think is impressive while they are wondering who is this girl..... that's how you make friends right?

I will keep you all updated on my preparations and we will countdown the days until God sends me on my next adventure.
